Maine Association of
Conservation Districts
Working for Maine’s Soil & Water Conservation Districts
The Maine Association of Conservation Districts is the statewide voice of Maine’s 16 local Soil and Water Conservation Districts.
By working with landowners, nonprofit organizations and federal, state, and local governments, Districts have helped to protect our soil, water, forests, wildlife, and other natural resources for over 60 years.
Our mission is to strengthen our member Districts public visibility, awareness of governmental activities, and technical and financial capacity in pursuit of natural resources conservation and food and fiber production.
2024 Maine State Envirothon Champions!
10 teams of high school students traveled to Quarry Roads Trail Park in Waterville for the 2024 Envirothon state competition. All of theses teams had won their regional competition with the winner of the state competition going to New York for the international competition later this summer. The students are tested on their knowledge in Soils, Aquatics, Wildlife, Forestry, and Current Issues. The Current Issue topic was renewable energy and requires the students to make a presentation for the judges.
Congratulations to the Spruce Mountain High School Green Team for winning State’s and progressing to the international competition!
The Envirothon program is coordinated by Dale Finseth of Kennebec County SWCD and supported by the Maine Association of Conservation Districts.
